Ever wonder how to dress when cold market prospecting?

Here’s the big fat hairy honest truth… How you dress can say a lot about you, but what you wear isn’t nearly as important as how you wear it and how you carry yourself.
When your chin and chest are up, your confidence is high, and people can tell that you’re not nervous or afraid to talk to them and they sense that you know what you’re talking about…
Even if you’re not dressed the stereotypical way your target market would assume you should be dressed for your profession, all those thoughts will fade into the background of their minds.
There are two popular expressions that I totally agree with and they are, “Clothes don’t make the man, man makes the clothes.” and “It’s not what you wear, it’s how you wear it.”
Because thousands of people from different industries will be watching this video, to be safe I’d recommend that you listen to your mentors on how to dress for success in your particular business, but what I’ve found is that a lot of the advice people give today on how to dress when you’re out and about prospecting is a little dated and old school.
If you’re trying to recruit people to join a corporate organization, then yeah, maybe dress up corporate, but if you’re trying to sell freedom from the 9-5 grind and a lifestyle, then maybe try to look like you’re already living it, even if you’re not fully free just yet.
You can dress to impress your prospects with suits and ties during the day and send the message that you’re impressive, or you can dress in a way that’s relaxing and comfortable and says…
“I don’t give a crap about impressing you, because I don’t need to. I’m successful without you and living a life where everyday is a vacation and if you want this life, you need to impress me.”
Personally, unless I’m on stage speaking at a big event, the latter is more of the type of statement I want my clothes to make for me and I’ll reaffirm that message with the words I speak.
My mentor Larry Gregory once confessed that he heard the legendary Bill Britt, one of the biggest leaders to ever build a team in the network marketing industry say…
“If you gotta wear a tie during the day, you’re broke.”

The day I heard that quote, I took off my tie and haven’t put one on during the day to go out and prospect ever since.
What’s even funnier is every time I see someone with a tie on during the day, I can’t help myself from wanting to walk up to them and prospect them for my business opportunity to save them from their “brokeness” and whatever job they’re in that’s got them wearing that choke collar.
